GOLF: Panther teams solid in early action
Pinckneyville's boys traveled to Nashville Municipal Golf Course on Wednesday, returning home with a win and a loss, finishing in between the host Hornets (149) and Trico (201). Three Nashville golfers shared the medalist honors.
Pinckneyville's top four, which combined to shoot 191, consisted of Lee Wittenauer (47), Alec Brand (47), Jordan Grissom (48) and Grant Thompson (49). Thomas Huggins (59) and Kyle Luke (60) also participated for the Panthers.
The same group picked up two wins in their season opening match on Monday at Indian Hills, as Wittenauer picked up a medalist award with his 42 to lead the Panthers to a team score of 177, ten better than second-place Woodlawn and well ahead of third place Waltonville (199).
Thompson (44), Brand (45) and Grissom (46) also made the top four with Luke shooting 54 and Huggins shooting 56.
The Lady Panthers were also in action at Monday's match, sweeping Woodlawn and Waltonville behind Ellie Carlson's 44, which earned the medalist award.
Trista Ogilvie (47), Erica Crews (53) and Taylor Wildermuth (65) also contributed to Pinckneyville's total of 209. Woodlawn shot 216, Waltonville 218.
The Lady Panthers (2-0) are at Nashville on Thursday, the boys are off until Friday when they host Du Quoin and Herrin at Red Hawk Golf Course.
