Virginia Rose Beggs

Virginia Rose Beggs, 82, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:52 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at her residence.

Virginia had been a homemaker and had worked for the City of Du Quoin Water Department. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin. She was an avid golfer and bridge player. She enjoyed watching baseball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

She was born June 14, 1930 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of Fred G. and Leota J. (Brock) Keller.

She married Don Walter Beggs on July 3, 1948 at the First United Methodist Church in Carbondale and he preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 2012.

She is survived by two daughters - Kathleen Campbell of Lancaster, Ohio and Sue Knapp and husband Steve of Du Quoin, two sons - David Beggs of Murphysboro and Terry Beggs and wife Susan of Port Charlotte, Fla., one brother - Julius Keller and wife Wanda of Du Quoin, two sisters - Faye Harris and husband Wade of Johnsburg, Ill. and Maretta Hall and husband Paul of Citrus Heights, Calif., nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Scott Baird officiating.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
