OBITUARIES: Jimmy Stalans

Jimmy Stalans, age 77, resident of Carrier Mills, passed away peacefully at 12:04 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Charlier VNA Hospice Center in Evansville, Ind., with his family at his side.

Jimmy was born on March 10, 1936, in Madisonville, Tenn., to the late John Marshall Stalans and Ruby Kate Harris Stalans. He married the former Mary McGuire on May 5, 2005, and she survives. He was a retired truck driver having worked for the Atlas Van Lines and various other trucking companies.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Stalans of Carrier Mills; four daughters, Maraline (Gary) Barrett, Maryville, Tenn., Debbie (Jay) Lindsey, Maryville, Tenn., Sandy Stalans, Alcoa, Tenn., Christi (Rob) Fightmaster, Maryville, Tenn; one son, Michael Stalans, Cleveland, Tenn; one stepson, Bob (Jeannie) Carriker, Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Travis (Tiffany) Click, Tyler Click, Joseph (Cheryl) Lee, Michael Stalans II; one great-grandson, Nicholas Todd Lee; two sisters, Betty Mae Everhart, Atlanta, Ga., and Debbie (Bill) Welch, Atlanta, Ga.; and one brother, Earl (Glories) Stalans, McLeansboro. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeanette Joyce; brothers, Charles Edward Stalans and Ronnie David Stalans; great-grandchild Aiden Click.

Graveside services preceded burial 1 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills. The Rev. Dale Orr officiated. Visitation was held on Monday from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. In lieu of flowers the preferred choice of remembrance would be memorials in his memory to the Charlier VNA Hospice Center, 610 E. Walnut St., Evansville, Ind. 47713.
