OBITUARY: Howard "Frog" Karnes

Howard "Frog" Karnes, 75 of Broughton, passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

He was born on Aug. 26, 1938, in Harco, to the late Charles and Margaret (Morris) Karnes. Howard was married to Delores (Motter) Karnes and she preceded him in death December 2010. He retired from the Hall's Sawmill in McLeansboro.

He is survived by three children, Jeff Karnes, Bill Hunt and Donna Karnes; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, James "Soap" Karnes; and a sister, Ruby McGlothlin.

He was preceded by his parents; wife, Delores; a daughter, Yvonne Swaggirt; three brothers, Charles, Noble and Roger Karnes; and a sister, Brenda Campbell.

Funeral services will be 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at the Sloan funeral Home in Galatia with visitation 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The body will be cremated and burial of ashes will be at a later date at the Digby Hill Cemetery.
