OBITUARY: Nellie Mae Vaughn

Nellie Mae Vaughn, 95 of Harrisburg, passed away at 12:40 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.

Nellie was born on May 13, 1918, in Jenny Lind, Ark., to the late Dan and Louise (Morrow) Herron. She married James Vaughn on Feb. 5, 1939, and he passed away Jan. 17, 1976. She was a member of the Harrisburg First Baptist Church and the Harrisburg Medical Center Auxiliary.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews including: Mike Herron and his wife Paulette, Nathan Herron and his wife Chelsea, Maverick Herron, Peyton Herron, Hayden Atkinson, Scott Herron and his wife Heather, Zaxyn Herron, Laura Buettner and her husband Mark, Austin Buettner, Cammi Moberly, Barbara Hilton, Nanette Harting, Greg Harting, Jeanette Pennington, Charles Boyett, Scott Boyett; and two very special friends, Lovie Stunson and Doug Pyle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Vaughn; her sister, Retha Hoover; and her brother, Eugene Herron.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Chris Winkleman will officiate. Burial will follow in Wolf Creek Cemetery in Eldorado. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
