OBITUARY: Wanda Louise Thompson

Wanda Louise Thompson, age 84 of Harrisburg, passed away at 5:36 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Cleveland Health Care in Cleveland, Texas.

Wanda was born on Oct. 27, 1929, in Pontiac, Mich., to Jane (McIlrath) Gasaway. On Nov. 17, 1948, she married Fred Thompson and he preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 2000. Wanda was a member of the McKinley Avenue Baptist Church and sang in the Oldies But Goodies choir.

Surviving family members include her daughter: Freda (Jim) Downs of Cleveland, Texas; daughter: Marilyn Nicholson of Oxford, Mich.; four grandchildren: Angela Morris of Goodrich, Texas, Matt (Mariessa) Favreau of Cleveland, Texas, Jason (Marie) Nicholson of Torrance, Calif., and Patty (Paul) Cassise of Lake Orion, Mich.; four great-grandchildren: Josh Barnett of Goodrich, Texas, Olivia Cassise and Reagan Cassise of Lake Orion, Mich., and Boston Nicholson of Torrance, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her mother and husband.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Joe Thompson will officiate. Burial will follow in Bankston Fork Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
