OBITUARY: Edith L. Raynes

Edith L. Raynes, age 88 of Harrisburg, went home to the Lord on Monday, June 30, 2014.

Edith was born in Stonefort on July 26, 1925, to the late Bernie and Carrie Edith

(Rose) Zarecor.

Edith worked as an LPN until her retirement at the age of 80. She loved helping

people and her love and compassion for others was boundless. She enjoyed a close

relationship with her Pastor, Jeff Owens, and her church family at Stonefort General

Baptist Church in addition to her niece Cynthia Kurpius and her husband, Jeff.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jimmy; and siblings, Walter, Bernie (Sam), Bobby, Chlola, Bill, Donald and Ronald.

Survivors include a daughter, Bernita Sue Carr of Harrisburg; her sister, Betty Osburn of Sheldon; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Felipa (Fela) Zarecor; and many beloved nieces; nephews; and cherished friends she loved like family.

Edith will be cremated per her wishes and a celebration of life will be held at a later date at the Stonefort General Baptist Church.

Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is assisting the family with arrangements.
