OBITUARY: James Robert Atkinson

James Robert Atkinson, 92 of Clarksville, Tenn., formerly of Equality, passed away at 7:20 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at the Clarksville Nursing and Rehab in Clarksville, Tenn.

He was born on Feb. 24, 1922, in Equality, the son of George and Essie (Adams) Atkinson. James Robert married Nellie Koker on Sept. 8, 1945, and he retired as a utility construction worker.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie Atkinson of Clarksville, Tenn.; one daughter, Carolyn and Doug Buckhorn, also of Clarksville; one sister, Betty Abell of Ridgway; two grandchildren, Vanessa and Kristina; and three great-grandchildren.

James Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bessie Wilson and Tessie Hoskins; two brothers, Roy and Bobby Gene Atkinson.

Visitation will be held from noon to service time at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality. Funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Duke Williams with burial at Elmwood Cemetery near Equality.
