OBITUARY: Evelyn M. “Nan” Carver

Evelyn M. "Nan" Carver, 86, of Springfield, formerly of Riverton and Harrisburg, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Evelyn was born March 4, 1929, in Edinburg, the daughter of Harold "Hallie" and Queenie Durham Poor. She married Arthur W. "Bud" Carver on Feb. 23, 1952, in Springfield. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art, in January, 1982; four brothers and a sister.

She and Art owned and operated Cemco Heavy Haulers in Riverton for more than 25 years, retiring in 1988. Evelyn was a huge Elvis Presley fan, loved the horse track and enjoyed playing cards.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Deborah A. Floyd, of Norris City; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her aunt, Helen Julius, of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Oak Hill Cemetery near Riverton.
