Obituary: Richard 'D-Bird' Evans

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Richard "D-Bird" Evans, 75, of Junction, passed away at his home at 4:50 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2012.

He was born on Jan. 20, 1937, in Stonefort, the son of Coy Leslie and Mary Elizabeth (Shadowens) Evans. He married Rose Mary Sharp on Aug. 31, 1980.

Richard was a retired coal miner.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Evans of Junction; seven children, Gary and Cindy Evans of Stonefort, Marcia and Wesley Clark of Paulton, Sherri and Mike Bundren of Ozark, Scott Evans of Murphysboro, Brad and Ida Evans of Creal Springs, Shannon and Brett Blackwelder of Junction and Johnny and Detria Hetterschedt of Shawneetown; one sister, Josephine and Carl Choate of New Burnside; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert and Leon Evans.

Visitation for Richard will be 11 a.m. to service time at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2012, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. The Rev. Wayne Duke will be officiating with burial in Little Saline Cemetery near Stonefort.
