OBITUARY: Sylvia Nolen

Sylvia Nolen, age 73 of Harrisburg, passed away at 12:54 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

She was born in Harrisburg on June 26, 1940, to the late Harvey and Virginia (Woodside) Gulley.

Sylvia was married to Kenneth Nolen on Sept. 1, 1956, and he survives. She worked at the Posey Shop and Pat's Flower Shop and was previously co-owner and operator of Bathe & Flower Shop in Harrisburg.

In addition to her husband Kenneth, she is survived by a son: Kenny and wife Connie Nolen of Harrisburg; son-in-law: Mark Thomas of Harrisburg; four grandchildren: Adam Nolen and wife Hannah of Harrisburg, Kaci Nolen of Madisonville, Ky., Mark Thomas and Fiancé Ashley Fortner of Evansville, Ind., Nolen Thomas of Carmel, Ind.; and one great-grandchild: Liam Nolen of Harrisburg; brother: Don Gulley of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; a daughter: Gina Thomas; sister: Mary Lou Short and sister: Mona Faye Gulley.

Services for Sylvia will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel, in Harrisburg. Burial will be held at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
