Obituary: Virginia R. Leavell

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Virginia R. Leavell, 75, of Carrier Mills, but longtime resident of Gallatin County, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012.

Virginia was born on Dec. 30, 1936, in Eagle Creek Township in southern Gallatin County to the late Charles and Virgie (Syers) Baldwin. She was first married to Bill Clifford, who preceded her in 2000. She then married Kenneth Leavell, who survives.

Virginia was a member of the Harvest Deliverance Church in Harrisburg. She loved to walk, be outside, fish, cook and was a loving person. She will be missed.

Virginia is survived by one son, James (Cassie) Clifford of Carrier Mills; three daughters, Montana (Randy) Isom of Carrier Mills, Brenda Craig (partner, Robert Rich) of Eldorado, and Dessie (Darren) Duncan of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; one brother, Herrel Baldwin of Raleigh; three sisters, Dorothy Mannring of Rockford, Mary Heath of Harrisburg and Virgie Rennier of Karbers Ridge; along with a stepson, John Clifford; two stepdaughters, Viola Kisner of New Haven and Sue Spoonmoore of Carmi; eight grandchildren; nine grandchildren; and nine great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

Visitation for Virginia will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in New Haven. The funeral service will follow the visitation starting at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ownly Williams officiating and interment to follow at the Union Ridge Cemetery in New Haven.

In lieu of flowers, the family will accept donations to help with cost.
