Charles Frank Ripperdan

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mr. Charles Frank Ripperdan, 86, of Steeleville, passed away at 11:50 a.m. Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Fountainview Nursing Home of Eldorado.

He was the widower of Theda (Lipe) Ripperdan.

Frank was born in Eldorado on May 5, 1922, the son of the late Charles and Elva (Dillard) Ripperdan.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Walsh.

He served in the U.S. Army as a first sergeant, 112th Infantry, 28th Division in World War II. He also served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in the Korean War. He was a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient.

He worked as an electrician prior to retirement.

He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and also belonged to the Eldorado Masonic Lodge for 52 years.

Charles is survived by two daughters, Francie (Marshall) Glover of Equality and Sally Ripperdan of Auburn. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Beth (Kalin) Dahl of Tulsa, Okla. and Steve (Jamie) Glover of Equality; and five great grandchildren, Alexandra Bakkeby, Victoria Bakkeby, Gabriella Bakkeby, Layton Glover and Elliott Glover. Frank is also survived by a sister, Charlene Purcell of Middletown, Ohio.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Leatha Lambert and two infants.

Funeral services will be held at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home, Eldorado at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009, with Pastor Harold Weber officiating. Burial will be in Adkin Cemetery in Omaha with military honors. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home.
