Prep Hoops: Carrier Mills-Stonefort stops NCOE

The Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School basketball team picked up a decisive win over NCOE, knocking of the Cardinals 70-50 at the Hardin County Class 1A Regional Tuesday night.

Slayden Figg led all scorers with 25 points, 16 of which came in the second half.

Loren Whiting netted 19 for the Wildcats who will now play Gallatin County in the semifinals tonight (Thursday) at 8 p.m.

The winner will get Crab Orchard or Thompsonville in Friday night's championship, which is set to tip off at 7 p.m.

Darrren Betz finished with 14 for Carrier Mills, while Jonah Crowder netted nine points. Anthony Kalodner finished with two and Gabe Motsinger had a free throw.

Carrier Mills-Stonefort built a 19-13 lead after one period of play and took a 32-17 lead into the locker room.

The Wildcats continued their stranglehold on the Cardinals by leading 43-36 after three periods of play.
