Obituary: Ruth Bernice Fulkerson
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Ruth Bernice Fulkerson, formerly of the Oak community in Pope County, died peacefully at the Hardin County General Hospital in Rosiclare with many family members at her bedside on Feb. 10, 2012.
She was born Jan. 17, 1917, near Rudement to the late Joshua and Della Cummins Reynolds.
She was married to Coy Fulkerson April 1, 1933, in Golconda, and he preceded her in death Feb. 19, 1990.
In her younger years, her interests were gardening, quilting, canning, etc and caring for their children. Her devotion to her family was evident in the many delicious meals she prepared. After she gave up quilting, she took up cross stitching and word search books. She was a member of Herod Springs Baptist Church.
Bernice will be missed by many family and friends. Her sweet disposition and loving ways remained throughout her lifetime. There are 123 family members living, including the in-laws. Six children survive, Aletta (Arnold) Barger, Evelyn (Vernon, deceased) Hogg, Josephine (Ed) Swanson, Bonita (Dallas) Davis, Karen (Larry) Hardin and Terry (Kathy) Fulkerson; 22 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; in addition to 20 grandchildren's spouses and seven great-grandchildren's spouses.
She was preceded in death by two children, Murray Fulkerson (Joyce) and Barbara Murphy (Tucker, deceased); one grandchild and one grandchild's spouse.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. Leroy Hicks officiating and burial in the Gossage Cemetery in Pope County. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
