GIRLS BASKETBALL: Buzzer-beater lifts #204 at Regional

Aubrey Bruns hit a three-pointer as time expired to give Pinckneyville District #204's girls basketball team a 41-39 victory over St. Ann in round one of the Regional tournament at Nashville on Tuesday, sending the Lady Tigers into Thursday's semifinals where they will meet Trinity-St. John.

The Lady Tigers trailed by one with four seconds remaining in the game when St. Ann missed the front end of a one-and-one chance at the free throw line. Bella Pasquino grabbed the rebound and dribbled up the court to find Bruns, who knocked down the game-winner from the top of the key as the buzzer sounded.

Pasquino led Pinckneyville with 20 points, Bruns had 12, Kassidy Lee 7 and Olivia Buza 2.

The Lady Tigers and TSJ will play at 7:15 on Thursday at TSJ in Nashville. The other semifinal will feature top-seeded Waltonville taking on Tamaroa-St. Bruno at 6 p.m. Winners match up on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the championship game.
