OBITUARY: Rita Mae Rushing Kingston

Rita Mae Rushing Kingston, 79 of Shawneetown, passed away 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at the Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.

She was born on April 13, 1935, in Henshaw, Ky., the daughter of Tobe and Estelle Nelson. Rita was the widow of Carroll Kingston who passed away on Oct. 25, 1969. She retired as a nurses aide of the Loretta Nursing Home in Shawneetown. Also, she was a member of the Shawneetown First Baptist Church.

Rita is survived by her two daughters, Connie and husband Oziel Hernandez of Shawneetown, Liz and husband Rick Davenport of Harrisburg; two sons, Rick and wife June Rushing of Shawneetown, Billy Joe Rushing of Carmi; one surviving sister, Lottie Downs of Morganfield, Ky.; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Phyllis Rushing Pumphrey; several sisters and brothers. Visitation for Rita will be held 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Funeral service will be at the funeral home 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, with Pastor Jack Hall officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Woodland Cemetery. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery near Morganfield, Ky.
