OBITUARY: Frances I. Schwartz
Frances I. Schwartz, 82 of Harrisburg, went home to be with the Lord at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at the home of her daughter surrounded by her children and family.
She was born on July 12, 1931, in Saline County to the late Arthur and Leeta (Poole) Wilson. On April 3, 1954, she married Charles (Bud) Schwartz. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1985. She was a homemaker and a loving Christian wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a long-time member of Bankston Fork Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and was a custodian for years.
Her life was devoted to her family, friends, and the church. Her favorite pastimes were watching her grandchildren play sports, crocheting, working puzzles, and watching the Cards play baseball.
Surviving family members include a son: Larry (Lori) Schwartz of Mt. Carmel; daughters, Cindy (Joe) Poirot, Teri (Tony) Reynolds, Tina (Joey) Younger, all of Harrisburg, Jan (Gary) Patrick of Galatia, and Tami (Tim) Swan of Carrier Mills; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Mabel Serles, Helen Hall, Betty Akins and Ruth Rumsey; sister-in-laws: Patsy Bishop, Betty Golish and Wilma Wilson; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, three sisters, father- and mother-in-law and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Shannon Goolsby will officiate and will be assisted by Larry Miller. Burial will follow in Bankston Fork Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bankston Fork Cemetery Fund or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
