Luke Davison will fill Charles “Beaver” Rice vacancy on the Du Quoin board of education

In a decidedly partisan and political Democrat move Perry-Jackson County Regional Superintendent of Schools Donna Boros will name Du Quoin resident Luke Davison to fill the position of the late Charles "Beaver" Rice on the Board of Education.

Davison is the son of retired educator Donna Davison and retired real estate and insurance agent Duke Davison.

Boros is a Democrat and her decision is said to have been influenced by John Rednour Jr., chairman of the 20-county downstate democrats.

Davison's mother, Donna, is precinct committeewoman in Du Quoin 1. County Democrat chairman John Rednour Jr. said Monday night he recommended Luke Davison, believing he would make a great board member.

Davison is a DHS graduate, is an educator and author and returned to Du Quoin to work for the St. Nicholas Brewing Co. He is from a substantial family, but the political connectivity is not sitting well with other applicants, nor some members of the board.
