The Voice Adds Coldplay's Chris Martin, Changes Format

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has joined The Voice as a key advisor, NBC announced.

Spring 2014: Must-watch new shows

In the new role, Martin will mentor each coach's team in an additional round of competition called The Battles: Round Two. The new twist will pit the remaining artists from each team - including previous winners and stolen artists - against one another to perform a song. Martin will help the contestants with vocal techniques, stage presence and tailoring the songs to fit each artist's personas and strengths.

The Battles: Round Two will begin airing Monday, March 31.
