Keck's Exclusives First Look: Modern Family Vacations
Hey, Modern Family , you just won the top comedy prizes at the Screen Actors Guild and Producers Guild awards! Where are you going next? Las Vegas and Australia! First up, it's an adults-only trip for a wild Sin City weekend. "Jay's [Ed O'Neill] client returns a favor by comping a few Mandalay Bay adjoining suites that share a butler," says executive producer Christopher Lloyd of the ABC comedy. "Claire [Julie Bowen] turns out to be a manic gambler who discovers Gloria [Sofia Vergara] is her good-luck charm at the tables and won't let her go."
Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) are invited to a wild bachelor party for Mitch's old beau Langham (Fred Armisen), and Patton Oswalt plays the head of a secret society of magicians that Phil (Ty Burrell) aspires to join. "The episode becomes a big sex farce with slamming doors and monkeys," Lloyd says. "There's a scene with Gloria wearing something skimpy. It makes The Wolf of Wall Street look like Sesame Street!"
Later this month, the whole cast is set to fly to Sydney for a spring storyline in which Phil learns he was conceived Down Under. "Phil wants to be Australian, but the country is very rough on him," Burrell says. "Luckily, I don't have to be good at the accent."
Some characters are expected to climb the iconic Harbour Bridge, Lloyd says. Cam and Mitch end up on a tandem motorcycle, and Manny (Rico Rodriguez) and Luke (Nolan Gould) hunt for a nude beach. Gould is already excited for that scene, though not without some hesitation. "I'm only 15, so it's a little weird," he says. "There are certain strangers I definitely wouldn't want to see nude!"
