OBITUARY: Euline Dallas Eilbracht

Euline Dallas Eilbracht, age 89, passed away 4 a.m. Aug. 29, 2012, at the Champaign-Urbana Rehab Center in Savoy.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West in Savoy from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2012. Services honoring and celebrating her life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday Sept. 4, 2012, at Morgan Memorial Home with the Rev. Rick Snyder officiating.

Euline's family requests that memorial contributions be made in her honor to Provena Covenant Women's Auxiliary. Cards and memorials may be brought or sent to Morgan Memorial Home.

Euline was born on April 1, 1923, at the Dallas family home near Harrisburg. She was the oldest of three children born to the late Everett and Flo Dallas. She is survived by her brother, Bob Dallas of Harrisburg, and sister, Gloria Hall of Omaha, Neb.

Euline graduated from Southern Illinois University, then obtained her Master's Degree from the University of Illinois. She married Robert A. Wilson in December 1947. Bob was killed in May 1953, leaving Euline with two children. Her daughter, Deborah Wolf lives in Charleston with husband Dale. Euline's son, Douglas Wilson resides in Naperville with wife Pam. Euline will also be missed by her grandchildren, Sarah Daugherty of Charleston; Adam Flack of Mattoon; Stephanie Valainis of Naperville; Derek Wilson of Boston, Mass.; and Kara Wilson of Naperville. Euline is also survived by one great-grandson, Noah Daugherty of Charleston and several stepchildren and step-grandchildren.

Euline taught speech and English from 1953 to 1974 at the University of Illinois, where she met Lee Eilbracht. Lee currently lives in Savoy. Euline and Lee were married in June of 1967. Euline's and Lee's children quickly recognized how unique and enduring their love is for each other. Their marriage has provided a model for their children and their children's children. Their lives were filled with family, friends, baseball, athletic pursuits, community and church involvement. They also enjoyed extensive travel all over the world.

A few of Euline's community contributions included being deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in Champaign, two-time chair of the University of Illinois Women's Day and chairwoman of the Provena/Covenant Women's Auxiliary.

She was a championship golfer and an avid racquetball player, winning tournaments in both. She astonished her family when she bungee jumped off a bridge in Australia at the age of 69! She exercised as she lived, with joy and passion.

Euline was the embodiment of class and style, admired for her taste, warmth, and beauty. She hosted many parties throughout the years and was renowned for the marvelous food she prepared and her incomparable hospitality.

She was always there in difficult times for friends and family and helped glue together the broken pieces of lives shattered by difficulty and sadness. She was a well of strength, love, and wisdom for all whose lives she touched.

Euline Eilbracht will be remembered as an accomplished career woman, a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, and cherished friend.
