Obituary: Velma 'Babe' Morine (Summers) Osterkamp

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Velma "Babe" Morine (Summers) Osterkamp, 90, of Harrisburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 4:14 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home in Carrier Mills.

Velma was born on Sept. 26, 1921, in Eldorado to the late William and Maggie (Witcher) Summers. She married James S. Gwaltney in 1938, and he preceded her in death in 1966. She married Parmaley Jack, and he preceded her in death in 1977. She married Clarence "Red" Wingate, and he preceded her in death. She married Calvin Osterkamp in 2007, and he survives in Harrisburg. Velma worked for Lightner Hospital to Harrisburg Medical Center where she worked in the insurance department. She was a member of the Honeycomb Church of God in Karbers Ridge.

Velma is survived by her husband, Calvin Osterkamp of Harrisburg; daughter, Marla Lane and husband Roger of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren, Gary Mattingly of Harrisburg, Eric Mattingly of Harrisburg, Lori Adams and husband Rodney of Harrisburg, and Darus Lane and wife Cyndi of Herod; six great-grandchildren, Jenna Mattingly, Bryan Mattingly, Seth Adams and wife Leslie, Ethan Adams, Greg Lane and Jacob Lane; five great-great-grandchildren, Myles Mattingly, Laney Adams, Moriah Lane, Jarin Lane, Grantlie Lane; son-in-law, Darrel Mattingly of Harrisburg; sister-in-law, Colleen Summers of Harrisburg; stepdaughter, Susan Marie Caraker and husband Chad of Columbia, Mo.; stepson, Mathew Lee Osterkamp and wife Rebecca of Jefferson City, Mo.; stepson, Mark A. Osterkamp and wife Michelle of Fort Worth, Texas; and stepgrandchildren, Jessica Caraker, Kaleb Caraker, Eric Osterkamp, Katlyn Osterkamp, Angelia Osterkamp, Zachary Osterkamp and William Osterkamp; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, James, Parmaley and Clarence; daughter, Marilyn Jean Mattingly; five brothers, Arthur, Andy, Alfred, Byford and Nomas Summers; two sisters, Thelma Hill and Helen Hargett; and one stepson, Jim Gwaltney.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Harold Miller and the Rev. Ted Warren will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Oval Cemetery at Norris City. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Carmi Baptist Children's Home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
