Prep Baseball: Gallatin Co., Carrier Mills picks up wins
The Carrier Mills-Stonefort baseball team shut out Carmi-White County 6-0 Wednesday.
Darren Betz threw his second one-hit shutout of the season for the Wildcats.
CMSF got on the board with a run in the first, followed by two in the second and closed the game out with a run in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Brody Walker, after walking in the first, later scored on an error and in the second inning, Justice Hill and Bryce Batson scored.
Jonah Crowder's RBI single scored Loren Whiting and in the sixth, Brody Walker smacked an RBI double scoring Dylan Schwartz.
Gallatin County 27, Joppa 0
Gallatin County improved to 5-3 with a 27-0 win over Joppa Wednesday.
Kory Hise and Nathan Shults each had three hits, while Thomas York, Seth Ramsey, Steven Robinson, Hunter Walters, Patrick Clark and Aaron Walters all had two hits.
Clay Pritchard and Dustin Oldham each had one hit, while Josh Smith, Tyler Cheek and Lucas Hise all reached base.
Ramsey picked up the win on the bump, going three innings, striking out eight. Shults worked one inning and struck out one.
The Hawks return to action today against Hardin County and will play Century Friday, both games in Junction.
Carrier Mills-Stonefort 9, Norris City-Omaha-Enfield 4
The Wildcats improved to 4-1 Tuesday, knocking off Greater Egyptian Conference foe, Norris City-Omaha-Enfield 9-4 Tuesday.
Justice Hill, picked up the win on the hill, going three strong innings, while Ethan Davis pitched the final four innings for the Wildcats.
Darren Betz scored Anthony Kalodner in the first inning on a sacrifice-fly and that was followed by a Loren Whiting two-run double in the third to make it 3-2 game.
The Wildcats put up two more runs in the fifth on Betz home run and Betz added a three-run dinger in the seventh for insurance.
