Harold E. Mattingly
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Harold E. Mattingly, 84, of Livonia, Mich., went to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009.
God looked down upon this Earth and saw a tired face. He put his arm around him and lifted him to rest. He saw the road getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb, so he closed his eyes and whispered, "Peace be thine."
Son of the late Elmer and Iva Mattingly; stepson of the late Pearl Mattingly; husband of Judith Mattingly; father of JoAnne McCulloch of White Lake, Mich. and Patricia Krulikowski (Alex); stepfather of Sherri Haller (Jeff), Michelle Byrne (Michael) and Michael Reese (Susan); grandfather of Denise Wioskowski (Chris) and Kenneth Blinn Jr.; stepgrandfather of Heather Molnar (Jim), Adam, Daniel, Becky, Sara and Cathy Haller, Derek and Sean Riberdy, Evan and Olivia Byrne and Mark and Jamy Krulikowski; great-grandfather of Gavin Wioskowski; brother of the late James Mattingly; and brother-in-law of Juanita Mattingly.
Mr. Mattingly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from Grand Trunk Rail Road. He liked to travel and attend family gatherings.
A celebration of Harold's Life was held 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at Donelson, Johns and Evans Funeral Home, Waterford, Mich. Interment followed at Perry Mt. Park Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009.
