OBITUARY: Lois Stalions Slimp

Lois Stalions Slimp, age 74 of Golconda, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Baptist Health in Paducah, Ky.

She was born March 29, 1940, to John H. and Opal (Page) Carr in Karbers Ridge. Lois worked in corrections for 25 years, retiring from the Vienna Correctional Center. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning, feeding birds and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, embroidery, and quilting. Lois was married to Billy for 15 happy years, and together, they made many traveling memories.

Lois is survived by her husband, Billy Slimp of Golconda; sons, Steve Stalions and partner Richard Tijerina of Austin, Texas, Bruce (Karen) Slimp of Golconda, Jackie Cooper of Golconda; daughters, Lisa (Mark) Williams of Barlow, Ky., Denise Jo (Larry) Otterson of Golconda, Bonnie Lee Petit of Golconda; grandchildren, Jeff (Misty) Stalions, Scott Stalions, Matt (Tana) Williams, Chris Stalions, Steve (Christy) Slimp, Scott (Jennifer) Slimp, Chrissy Martens, Jeremy Ashworth; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Frankie Simms; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Clyde Stalions Jr.; two brothers, Tommy Carr, Doc Carr; one infant brother.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville. Interment will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Delwood. The Rev. Roy Baker will conduct the service. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the funeral home.
