Autopsy rules out natural causes for Vergennes woman
There is nothing remarkable in the autopsy report following the death of a Vergennes woman found dead in a Du Quoin restaurant Nov. 28 to indicate how the woman died, according to Perry County coroner Paul Searby.
Searby said the answers will probably be found in a toxicology report that has not yet been completed.
The autopsy shows no immediately identifiable reason for her death such as a heart attack. There was no foul play.
Police say Kaileigh Ralph, 29, was NOT an employee. Searby said it is known that the woman had been in Du Quoin earlier in the day that Friday to visit a friend on East South Street. Searby said he believes the woman was in the Hardee's restaurant only to use the restroom
An autopsy was performed on Kaileigh Ralph on Monday following her death.
The body of Ralph was found in the restroom at 4:48 a.m. Saturday morning, police say.
Chief Jamie Ellermeyer said surveillance video in the restaurant shows she entered the restroom Friday at 7:15 p.m. She never left the restroom and no one else had entered the restroom after 9 p.m.
Ellermeyer said no one would have given a second thought to a stall door being closed and a purse sitting on the floor. Her body was found the next morning as the staff prepared for the restaurant's opening.
Investigators have reviewed the restaurant's video surveillance recording and know that Ralph was not a victim of foul play.
Searby will provide the newspaper with the results of the toxicology findings as soon as they become available.
