Toxic alternatives passes Senate

After months of delays and negotiations, the state Senate passed legislation Tuesday that would require Massachusetts companies to substitute existing, safer alternatives for some toxic chemicals.

State Sen. Pam Resor, D-Acton, was happy to see the Senate reach consensus on the bill she sponsored, although the compromise proposed regulations are not as strong as she would have liked.
