OBITUARY: Herschel Leroy Fields
Herschel Leroy Fields, 80 of Cave-In-Rock, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 26, 1934, in Hardin County. He was a retired truck driver, a member of the First Baptist Church of Rosiclare and an Army Veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by son: Bob and Janie Fields of Harrisburg; son: Don "Randy" and Karen Fields of Cave-In-Rock; granddaughter: Elizabeth and Danny Shelton; granddaughter: Tamara and Dusten Spurr; granddaughter: Cassandra Fields; grandson: Mitchell Fields; grandson: Daniel and Jennifer Hutchinson; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; special friend: Virginia Millikan.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Barbara Pennell Fields; parents: Mr. and Mrs. George Fields; brothers: George "Ed" and Charles "Cokie" Fields; sisters: Louise Walker and Ruth Jones.
Hardin County Funeral Services, Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements. As per his wishes, Mr. Fields has been cremated. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday Feb. 7, 2015, at Cave Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 571. Rev. Roy Baker will conduct the services.
