Joseph Harvey Stubbs

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Joseph Harvey Stubbs, 65, of 212 Kenedy Dr., West Frankfort, formerly of Shawneetown, passed away at 9:25 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at the V.A. Medical Center in Marion.

He was born April 9, 1944, in Shawneetown to Joe Gilbert and Martha Myrtle (Rider) Stubbs. Joe married Cheri Link on Dec. 28, 1980.

He was a printer by trade and had worked at the Daily Register for 13 years. He served his country in U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of Solid Rock Freewill Baptist Church in Johnston City.

Joe is survived by his wife, Cheri Stubbs of West Frankfort; a stepson, Joel Culbreath of Greenville, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Robin Stefko of Wentzville, Mo. and Melissa Craig of Evansville, Ind.; two grandchildren, Courtney and Lindsey Stefko; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Neva Joyce Sturgill.

Visitation for Joe will be held from 11 a.m. to service time at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Pastor Jack Hall will be officiating the service. Burial will be at Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown with military rites conducted by Ridgway American Legion Post No. 596.
