SOFTBALL: Lady Warriors put Jr. Lady Panthers away early

Du Quoin benefitted from fifteen combined walks and hit batters and came away with a 19-4 home win over Pinckneyville (District #50) on Monday afternoon.

Lady Warriors hurler Maddie Robison allowed just three hits and a walk with one strikeout and threw all four innings of the shortened game. Robison also added three RBIs at the plate, where she was 1-for-2 with a single and a HBP.

Braylee Watson (2-4, 2 R, 3 RBI), Chloe Hess (1-3, 3 R, 2 RBI, BB), Aubrey Barwick (1-1, 3 R, 2 RBI, 3 BB) and Lauren Heape (1-1, 2 R, BB, HBP) also had hits for DMS.

"We are just going out and trying to get better," said Du Quoin head coach Jason James. "Over the last three games we have done that. I'm proud of the girls and their efforts. We had a few step up today and are starting to become pretty good softball players."

Leal Theis (1-2, R), Haleigh Kling (1-2, R) and Kenzie Lloyd (1-2, R, 3B) had hits for the Junior Lady Panthers.

DMS's final regular season game is on Tuesday at home against Nashville. The Lady Warriors begin Regional play on Thursday at Benton with a 4:30 p.m. first pitch.

PJHS travels to Christopher for their Regional on Tuesday, starting at 4:00 p.m.
