Harry Griffin 'Griffie' Triplett
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Harry Griffin "Griffie" Triplett, 91, Galatia, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010, at the Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
Griffie was born July 17, 1918, in Galatia to the late Harry L. and Mareta (Griffin) Triplett. He married Betty (Simmons) Triplett on June 2, 1940, for 68 years and she preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 2008.
Griffie worked for the Southeastern Illinois Electrip Coop for 37 years and was also a postmaster at the Galatia Post Office. He also, on April 16, 1964, made the first hole in one at the Saline County Golf Course. He was a member of the Galatia Methodist Church, where he was a lifelong member. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving from 1944 to 1946 in the infantry as a master sergeant and received a Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 169 of Eldorado.
Griffie is survived by two sons, Mike and Gloria Sue Triplett of Galatia and Jamie "Pat" and Ladonna Triplett of Eldorado. His grandchildren are Jackie Heflin, Steven (Angela) Triplett, John (Julie) Triplett, all of Galatia, Brandon (Michelle) Triplett and Amanda (Mike) Klein of St. Louis, Mo. Great-grandchildren are Brian and Dustin Heflin, Noah, Jonah, Cameron, Nicholas, Isaiah, Natalie and Grifflin Triplett. He is also survived by a sister, Rosemary Richey of Galatia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; and a great-grandson, Adam Heflin.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 3, 2010, at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010, at the funeral home. Dr. Harrison Peyton will officiate with burial in the Webber Campground Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Galatia Methodist Church and to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
