River-to-Ribver Society offering guided hikes

<span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">The River-to-River Trail Society announces its fourth and fifth guided hikes of the fall season on Saturday afternoon and evening.</span>

<span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Both hikes are free and open to the public. People are invited to join one or both of the hikes.</span>

<span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">The afternoon hike will be at Grindstaff Hollow and Hurricane Bluff. Hikers in good health, who have done some walking and are ready to take on a four-mile trek should meet by 10 a.m. at the High Knob parking lot, a top High Knob, a mile and a half north of Karber's Ridge. This hike is expected to conclude at about 1:30 p.m.</span>

<span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">The evening hike will be a special Halloween night hike to the area of the Max Creek Vortex, reputed to be the site of strange lights, weird sensations, and ghostly happenings. This will be an out and back hike of about three miles for walkers with the same experience and health conditions noted for the afternoon hike. Hikers should meet at 5:30 p.m. at the New Simpson-Tunnel Hill School, on U.S. 45 between Ozark and Vienna. At the conclusion of the hike, there will be a bonfire at the trailhead, and hikers are invited to bring hot dogs or marshmallows to roast.</span>

Hikers should bring their own water and a snack. Those attending the night hike should also bring a reliable flashlight. Halloween masks are optional. No dogs or alcohol permitted.
