OBITUARY: Gary R. Oxford

Mr. Gary R. Oxford Sr., age 68 of Robinson, died 5:20 p.m. Thursday April 3, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, Ind., following several months of declining health.

Born Feb. 8, 1946, in Cave-In-Rock in Hardin County, he was the son of Bernard Roger and Gladys Geraldine (Smith) Oxford. On Nov. 16, 1963, he married Sherell J. (Davis) and she survives.

Mr. Oxford owned and operated GSG Industries in Robinson and was formerly Plant Manager for Thordarson Meisner Incorporated for 21 years. Gary was a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 1369 where he rose to the level of Fellowship Degree by having advanced through the degrees. He also belonged to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge No. 1188; Fraternal Order of Eagles Palestine Aerie No. 3329; VFW Sons of the VFW No. 4549, Robinson.

Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife, Mrs. Sherell J. Oxford, Robinson; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary R. Oxford Jr. and wife Janelle Oxford, Robinson; two grandchildren, Alexandra O. Oxford, St. Louis College of Pharmacy; Grant W. Oxford, Robinson; a brother, Roger L. Oxford, Cave-In-Rock; sister, Mrs. Brenda I. Wiseman, Metropolis; sister-in-law, Sherry Pennell, Bladenboro, N.C.; brother-in-law, and spouse, Danny and Donna Davis, Pickerington, Ohio; along with several nieces; nephews; and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother-in-law, Robert Wiseman; a sister, Geraldine Yackle and a brother, John Oxford.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday April 5, 2014, at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, with the Rev. Tiffany Black officiating. Friends may gather from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at 11 a.m. at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson. A graveside service will be held at the Cave Hill Cemetery, Cave In Rock at 3 p.m. Saturday April 5, 2014, with Pastor Larry Lewis officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cave Hill Cemetery Maintenance Fund or Good Samaritan Hospice, Vincennes, Ind., with envelopes available at the funeral home.
