Perry County sentences in February

Perry County State's Attorney David H. Searby Jr., announces the following sentences to the Illinois Department of Corrections during February.

Joseph D. Clopton, 34, of Chicago, was sentenced to one year in the Illinois Department of Corrections (with applicable credit for time previously served) with a one-year mandatory supervised release period. He pleaded guilty Feb. 26 to Resisting or Obstructing a Peace Officer, a Class 4 Felony. The sentence will run concurrently with a sentence out of Jackson County. The Perry County Sheriff's Office and the Pinckneyville Police Department handled the investigation and arrest.

Andrew M. Hayes, 34, of Tamaroa, was sentenced to two years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (with applicable credit for time previously served) with a one-year mandatory supervised release period. He admitted Feb. 26 to the allegations of a Petition to Revoke Probation for the original offense of Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony. The Du Quoin Police Department was responsible for the original investigation and arrest.
