Dale E. Colbert, 69, Shawneetown

Dale E. Colbert, 69, of Shawneetown, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, 6:15 a.m. at the Cypress Grove Rehab Center of Newburgh, Ind.

He was born in Eldorado on November 26, 1946, the son of the late Hershel and Dorothy Lucille (Sutton) Colbert. Dale married Elsa Mae Rice on October 18, 1969 who passed on October 4, 1998. He married Cecilia McConnell on June 18, 2004.

He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart. Dale was a retired farmer from the Colbert Farms of Junction.

He is survived by his wife Cecilia "Sissy" Colbert of Shawneetown; two sons, James Colbert of Junction, Keith and Lori Colbert of Harrisburg; one brother, Terry and Mary Colbert of Dyersburg, Tenn.; three step children, Debra Weinzapfel, Kim Hines, and Michael Brown, all of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Mychaela and Morgan Colbert, Amanda and Jason Thompson, Krystina Brown, Amy Kilgore, and Brent Weinzapfel.

Visitation for Dale will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown.

The funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Chris Marsh. Burial will be at Wolf Creek Cemetery in Eldorado with Military Rites by Eldorado VFW Saline Post 3479 with the Army Military Honors Team. Internet condolences may be made at the website, www.vickeryfuneralchapel.com.
