Rails-to-Trails run to benefit Fowler-Bonan

The Fowler-Bonan Foundation's "Clothes for Kids" program will be the beneficiary of two Harrisburg-to-Eldorado "Saline County Rails-to-Trails" events on May 9 - a 1/4 Marathon (6.55 miles) Run and a 6.5K (4 mile) Walk.

The events are being hosted by the Southeastern Illinois Community Health Coalition, with parking, registration and finish line to be at the Egyptian Health Department on US Route 45 North in Eldorado.

Transportation from the health department, in Eldorado, to the starting line in Harrisburg, will be provided by RIDES Mass Transit. Registration starts at 7 a.m. with the events to begin at 8 a.m.

Overall medals will be presented to the top two male/females in each event, and in the age divisions of 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and older.

A $20 registration fee includes a guaranteed T-shirt for entrants registered by May 1. Online registration is provided at www.active.com. The Southeastern Illinois Community Health Coalition is a not-for-profit corporation formed in 2008 with individuals and organizations representing Saline, White and Gallatin Counties. By providing leadership and a unified voice at the local level on all health related issues, the Coalition's mission is to have an active interest in and commitment to improving the health status of the communities in Southeastern Illinois.
