OBITUARY: Cathryn J. Groves

Cathryn J. Groves, age 91, of Harrisburg, passed away 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, in the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.

She was born in Harrisburg Dec. 22, 1920, to the late Erble and Katie McClendon Walker. She married Joseph Peyton Groves Nov. 23, 1939, and he preceded her in death June 13, 1982. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Harrisburg.

Cathryn is survived by her daughter, Coren Miller of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Nancy (Ron) Miller-Phillips of Carrier Mills and Joel (Drema) Miller of Pineville, La.; four great-grandchildren, Miller (Courtney) Craig, Chase (Shaina) Craig, and Peyton and Landon Miller; great-great grandchild, Olivia, and was anticipating the birth of two great-great grandchildren that are on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Karen Faughn; and twin sister, Carrie Ryan.

There will be no public visitation, and graveside services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Harrisburg.

Cathryn requested that there be no flowers and for those who wish, memorials may be made to the "new parsonage fund" of the First United Methodist Church in Carrier Mills. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery.

Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills has been entrusted with arrangements.
