OBITUARY: Troy Edward Hooker

Troy Edward Hooker, 67, (Chalybeate) Smiths Grove, Ky., passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, in Bowling Green, Ky.

He was born Aug. 6, 1946, in Harrisburg to Harvey Edward and Hester Mae (DeMaris) Hooker. He was married to Judith Lois Mezo of McLeansboro on April 17, 1971, at Pinckneyville who survives. He grew up in the Dorrisville area and attended and graduated from Dorrisville School. He also attended High School. His early years included working on a riverboat, Del Monte, Spartan Printing, and then General Motors for 38 plus years before retirement in 2007 from the Bowling Green Corvette Plant. He enjoyed his family, friends, outdoors and flying.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Lois (Mezo) Hooker; three daughters, Kristina Alice Coop and husband Les, Joetta Lynn Hooker and Neal Blondin, both of Smiths Grove, Ky., Angela Renee Bright of Bowling Green, Ky.; two sons, Kevin Dewayne Hooker and wife, Tabitha of Owensboro, Ky., and Michael Mezo and wife Marline of McLeansboro; eight grandchildren, Kristopher Leviner, Rachel Renae Collins, Casey Dylan Coleman, Riley Judith Hooker, Kevin Dawayne Hooker Jr., Jonathan Hooker, Olivia Hooker and Jillian Hooker; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Collins and Kaleb Collins and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Frances Hayes-Stone, MaeBelle Brown, Maudie King and Opal Nadine in infancy; four brothers, Donald King, Lester King, Estel King and John King.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 at Patton Funeral Home, Brownsville Chapel and from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Gholson Funeral Home, McLeansboro. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at Gholson Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Butler officiating. Burial will be at IOOF Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home.
