Virginia C. Ayers Barrass
Mrs. Virginia C. Ayers Barrass, age 96 of Harrisburg, died at 4:27 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at the Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg.
She was born Sept. 6, 1918, in Mill Creek to Claude and Effie Goodman Heileg. She first married Virden Ayers on July 19, 1938, in Mantino, and later married Thomas Barrass in 1978 in Saline County.
Virginia is survived by her nieces, Vicki (Tom) Fox of Carrier Mills, Linda Donaldson of Marion; nephews, Michael and Wardie Heilig both of Marion; great-nieces and -nephews, Angie (Larry) Henk of Harrisburg; great-great-nieces and -nephews, Anniston, Austin and Brandon Henk. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Gwen Owen; one brother and sister-in-law, Ward and Jane Heileg.
Virginia was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg. She was retired after 35 years of service from the Elgin Mental Health Center in Elgin.
Graveside services for Mrs. Virginia C. Ayers Barrass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, in the Jonesboro Cemetery with Pastor Christine Cunningham officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
