OBITUARY: Lee Roy McKinnies

Lee Roy McKinnies, 59 of Broughton, died Feb. 6, 2014, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.

Lee Roy was born in Harrisburg on Oct. 6, 1954, to the late Charles and Mary Louise (Leek) McKinnies. He was a graduate of SIU with his masters and bachelors degree in agriculture. He was a member of the Hamilton County Farm Bureau, Saline County Drainage Board and many other farm boards. He owned and operated McKinnies Farms and was a teacher.

On Jan. 8, 2008, he married the former Lisa Tite and she survives in Broughton. He is also survived by two stepchildren: Breanna Carlton of Harrisburg and Christie Hisey of Broughton; and one stepgrandchild: Grayson Stafford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins including Mike McKinnies, Derek McKinnies and Dakota McKinnies. He was preceded in death by his sister Charlene McKinnies in 2008.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at the Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. The Rev. Bill Jones and the Rev. David Angelly will officiate. Burial will be in Raleigh Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at the funeral home.
