Obituary: Ellen Maxine Penrod

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Ellen Maxine Penrod, 92, of Metropolis, passed away at her home at 11:25 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2012, with her family by her side.

She was born in Muddy to Joe and Jesse (Leach) Girot on March 22, 1920.

Maxine enjoyed her time at her home on Kentucky Lake fishing and boating with her family and friends. She loved her church trips to Branson with her beloved husband of 50 years. She has been a member of First Baptist Church in Metropolis since 1952.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Louis W. Brinker will officiate.

Maxine is survived by her children, Gary Penrod and wife Patty of Benton, Ky., Rebecca Reames and husband Mike of Metropolis, and Lance Penrod of Metropolis; her grandchildren, Ellen Mahler of Pryorsburg, Ky., Todd Reames of Metropolis, Lynn Reames of Metropolis, Katie Penrod of Metropolis and Daniel Penrod of Danville, Ky.; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Jesse (Leach) Girot; her husband of 50 years, Woodrow Penrod; grandson, Chad Penrod; sister, Marie Disney; brothers, Bruce Girot and Richard Girot.

There will not be any visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Lourdes Hospice, 2855 Jackson St., Suite 5, Paducah, Ky. 42003.

Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis is in charge of arrangements.
