OBITUARY: Pauletta Humphrey

Mrs. Pauletta Humphrey went home to be with her Lord Thursday, July 26, 2012, in Phoenix, Ariz., where she had been living with her daughter. In September Mrs. Humphrey would have been 100 years old.

She is preceded in death by her husband the Rev. Clayton Humphrey.

She leaves behind her daughter, Dr. Treva Kay Gibson and son-in-law, Dr. Charles Gibson; two grandsons and their wives, Eric and Susan Gibson and Chuck and Kris Gibson; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Grant and Spencer Gibson and Alexa Pierce and husband Chris.

She has one remaining sister, Jeanette Hall; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2012, with the Rev. Verlee Eacker officiating and visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin. Burial will be in Raleigh Masonic Cemetery in Raleigh.

Mrs. Humphrey was a member of the First Baptist Church in Herrin. She served many years working in Women's Missionary Union throughout Illinois. She was also known as a great cook, having served as church hostess at Herrin first.
