Norman L. 'Lane' Tolbert

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Norman L. "Lane" Tolbert of Eagle, Wis., formerly of Philadelphia, Miss., died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at the Virginia Health Care Center at 76.

Lane was born in Philadelphia, Miss., on Sept. 29, 1932, the son of Roger and Lucille (Clark) Tolbert.

He was united in marriage to the love of his life, his wife Betty Jo Dunn, on Feb. 17, 1951. Lane was a lifetime member of New Zion United Pentecostal Church.

He loved talking about God and the Bible. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Lane was known for being a workaholic. His greatest joy in life was being with his family and going to church.

Lane will be deeply missed by his wife, Betty Jo; daughters, Rose (the Rev. Michael) Hook of Waukesha, Wis., and Martha Elane (John) Smock of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Michaela (Chad) Willmann, Ashley Hook and Amanda and Matthew Smock; three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Kayla Rose and Ethan Willmann; brothers, the Rev. R. L. (Nancy) Tolbert, Jack (Betty) Tolbert, Dr. Joe L. (Loretta) Boswell, Hilton (Carolyn) Boswell, Jimmy (Nell) Boswell; and sister, Barbara (Jim) Reed. Lane is further survived by many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lamar; sister, LillianEarl Tolbert; and stepfather, Joe L. Boswell.

Services for Norman L. "Lane" Tolbert were held at 7 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 3, 2009 at the Apostolic Life Tabernacle, Waukesha, Wis. and at 12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at New Zion United Pentecostal Church, Philadelphia, Miss. Visitation was from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, and from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday. The Rev. Randall Dunaway, the Rev. R.L. Tolbert and the Rev. Michael Hook officiated. Burial followed in Henry's Chapel Cemetery, Philadelphia, Miss., under the direction of McClain-Hays Funeral Home.
