Steve Takacs

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Steve Takacs, 85, of Galatia, passed away at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at his daughter&#39;s residence in Galatia.

He was born in Ledford on Nov. 21, 1925, to Charles and Elizabeth (Barta) Takacs. Steve married Betty (Wolfe) Takacs on June 3, 1950, in Saline County and she passed away on Sept. 21, 1986.

He worked for Sahara Coal Mines for 45 years before retiring. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Galatia and a member of the Galatia Masonic Lodge No. 684.

Surviving is a daughter, Stephanie (Pete) McClerren of Galatia; a grandson Gary (Emme) Lane of Galatia; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Braxton Lane; and three sisters, Rose Pritchett of Galatia, Mitizi Melton of Evansville, Ind. and Helen Fougnies of Indianapolis, Ind.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife; three sisters, Elizabeth Stefani, Pat Takacs and Margaret Takacs; and three brothers, Frank, Charles and Joe Takacs.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday May 20, 2011, at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011, at the funeral home. Pastor Maurice Melton and the Rev. Jared Mitchell will officiate with burial in the Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Masonic Rites will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
