Elizabeth Ann Hunsley Wisbrock
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Elizabeth Ann Hunsley Wisbrock was born July 1, 1916, to Ernest and Louemma Hunsley in Edinburg. She married George M. Wisbrock Sr. and is survived by two sons, George M. Wisbrock Jr. and wife Lois, Monte Jo Wisbrock and wife Cheryl; daughter, Lana Wisbrock Wiley and husband Frederick; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Youngest of seven children, Elizabeth was the first of her family to attend college. She completed her bachelor of science in education degree in three years while working full-time for the dean of students at Missouri Valley College.
Following her college commencement, she taught school in Wright City, Mo., where she met her future husband. While her husband was serving in the U.S. Army overseas, she bore her first son and continued to maintain a household during the war years. She later taught at Pawnee High School and bore and raised two more children. She also taught school at Edinburg High School and elementary school in New Baden.
Elizabeth was a member of Edinburg United Methodist Church and was instrumental in maintaining the Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Explorer programs in Edinburg. Elizabeth taught many classes in the Edinburg and Pawnee areas and educated them in physical education, general business practices and commerce-related courses. During the later part of her life she taught in New Baden and substituted in the Galatia and Harrisburg school systems, where she resided.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband and one grandchild, she will always be remembered as a loving, hard-working mother, dedicated to her family.
Visitation is 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at Gaskins-Jones Funeral Home, Harrisburg. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at Edinburg Cemetery.
