Edna P. Johnson

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Edna P. Johnson, 98, Carrier Mills, died at 10:26 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.

Edna was born on Aug. 20, 1911, in Carrier Mills to the late Charles and Alice Durfee Martin. She married Ernest "Pinch" Johnson on Nov. 24, 1932, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1957. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carrier Mills, where she served as the custodian of the church for 20 years. She was a 60-year member of the former Comfort Rebekah Lodge No. 48 and a 50-year member of the Eastern Star Lodge.

Edna is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Charles and Marlene Johnson of Carrier Mills; a foster daughter, Patty Delgado of El Paso, Texas; two grandchildren, Dr. Lisa Haston of Lansing, Mich. and Gina Calvano of Naperville; five great-grandchildren, Chris Haston, Matt Haston, Willi Calvano, Nicholas Calvano and Alyssa Calvano; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Bill, Sam, Kenneth Martin; and two brothers in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2010, in the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Harl Cockrum officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills. Envelopes will be available at the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home.
