Eldorado woman killed in crash

ELDORADO - Illinois State Police District 19 reported that an Eldorado woman died as the result of a single-car crash Wednesday afternoon in Saline County near the Hamilton County line.

According to the crash report, 39-year-old Taryn Hopkins was driving south on Illinois 142 near North County Road in Saline County. According to the report, Hopkins apparently failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and struck an embankment.

Hopkins' silver 2004 Toyota Solara became airborne and struck a utility pole and overturned, coming to rest in a field, police said.

Hopkins was pronounced dead on the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
