Obituary: Edgar Roe

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Edgar Roe, 90, lifelong resident of Junction (Pisgah community) died peacefully, Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 in the Ridgway Rehab and Nursing Center.

Edgar was born on Feb. 8, 1921, in Ridgway to the late Frank and Ethel (Chapman) Roe. Edgar married Genevieve (Harris) Roe in 1947 and she preceded him in death in 2007.

Edgar served his country in the Army during World War II; he was in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He returned home from the service and worked is entire life as a grain and livestock farmer and also worked as a state highway worker for many years. He was very active in politics, as he was a Democrat Precinct Committeeman for over 36 years. He was a deacon at his church, in which he was always a faithful member, Pisgah General Baptist Church. He was a wonderful husband, loving father and grandfather, good brother and son and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by two sons, Kenny and Gayla Roe of Junction and Donald Roe of Junction, along with a daughter Vicki and Ron McGill of Edwardsville; several grandchildren, Jim and Chantell Roe, Crystal and Mike Berardi, Julie Roe and Allen Roe; three great-grandchildren, Paige, Cyrus and Cayman; and a brother, Henry Roe.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Mike, Bert, Tommy, Everett and Louis Roe; a sister, Ruth Smith; and a grandson, John Roe.

Visitation for Edgar will be at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011. His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Hunt officiating. Interment will follow at the Lindale Cemetery in Eldorado next to his wife with military rites by the Ridgway American Legion.
