Teresa Lee Dunn

1957 − 2012

Teresa Lee Dunn, 54, completed this life's journey on Monday, July 30, 2012, after a three year battle with ALS.

She passed peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, in Reno, Nev., at the home of her brother Mark and sister-in-law Traci who cared for her in her last months.

Beloved daughter, sister, aunt, lover, peacemaker, adventurer and friend, those lives she touched were enriched by her presence. Teresa worked as a nurse in Canada, with indigent populations in Mexico, and with the outpost nursing program serving the Inuit Tribe in the Yukon.

For the last several years, Teresa worked as a Nurse Practitioner at St. Anthony's Medical Clinic which serves the poor, homeless and afflicted in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco.

Teresa was born December 13, 1957, in San Jose, Calif., and graduated from Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg in 1976. She received a Licensed Practical Nurse certificate from Southeastern Illinois College in 1977, and her Registered Nurse license from DeAnza Community College, Cupertino, Calif., in 1984. She graduated in 1990 from Long Beach State College with a BS in Nursing. In 2002, she earned a Masters in Science and Family Nurse Practitioner license from the University of California, San Francisco.

Teresa was an avid backpacker, kayaker, swimmer, skier and world traveler.

She is survived by her mother Ruth Dunn of Harrisburg; brother Mike Dunn and his wife Joyce Resnick-Dunn, M.D., of Benicia, Calif.; Glenna Mann and her husband Ed Mann and grandson Brendan Mann of Harrisburg; Elizabeth Dunne of Oakland, Calif.; Pat Dunn and his wife Elaine of Crab Orchard; Mark Dunn and his wife Traci of Reno Nev.; close nieces and nephews Brian Mann and companion Shelly Juelfs of Harrisburg, Amanda Griffin-Blackwell and husband Wade Blackwell of Long Beach, Miss., Jaclyn Garner and husband Kelly of Crossville, Chrissy Holmes and husband Eric of Crab Orchard, Shelly Truitt and husband Jeremy of Crab Orchard, David Resnick-Dunn of Benicia, Calif., Erin Dunn and Emily Dunn of Reno, Nev.; by many grandnieces and grandnephews; and by her beloved companion Keith Valentine of Novato, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her father Glenn Dunn, and nephews Jason Mann and Gilford Griffin lll.

She will be greatly missed.
